Who would have thought that ChatGPT and Emotional Agility can be a great mix!
Well, they can!
As we all step forward into the new dawn of artificial intelligence, large language systems, and the offerings of ChatGPT can be leveraged well when it comes to improving emotional agility.
What is Emotional Agility?
"Emotional agility is a process that allows you to, in the moment, change or maintain your behaviors so that you can live in ways that align with your intentions and values." - Susan David
This is the original definition from the founder of the research into emotional agility - Susan David, Psychologist, Harvard Medical School, TED Speaker, Author of the #1 WSJ bestseller "Emotional Agility," Co-Founder of the Institute of Coaching.
How does ChatGPT relate to Emotional Agility?
In short, there is no easy answer, which begs the question: why write this article, lol? However, understanding the new emotions of how using ChatGPT on a daily basis brings new and interesting research to the field of Artificial Intelligence and, more importantly, emotional intelligence.
What are the new principles of Emotional Agility in Navigating more Generative AI models like ChatGPT?
An interesting question indeed, and for many of us, it is more about understanding how we recognize our feelings when using more generative AI software.
The importance is to think about how well we know ourselves before we get into the mix of learning and interacting with AI.
ChatGPT is a wonderful piece of kit; however, what does it take to override the error of overusing it?
Overusing ChatGPT and emotional agility
The concept of managing our mental well-being is very important, as a misalignment of your values could cause heavy disruption to your health. And more often than not, we get worried as humans when we feel we are neglecting our values.
The interception of creating content, increasing our productivity, and using the newly formed ChatGPT Enterprise is great.
Companies around the world may or may not see a productivity boost.
The underlying thought processes in using advanced Generative AI
How we learn to engage our minds in the field of modern generative AI is important and exciting. Yet, the risks to our mental health could be high if we neglect them. For instance, what effects does using generative AI and particularly ChatGPT for 8 hours a day over 365 days have?
An interesting and decent thesis, I think, for academics to investigate.
Does Chat GPT cause damage to my mental well-being?
The golden question, right?
It is too early to tell in multiple ways, including really how much you personally gain from using the system.
In life, it is wise to take a subjective view (your view) into consideration for understanding if new technology innovations are good for your well-being.
Of course, you need to assess if using it for 8 hours a day leaves your mind in good or poor shape.
In simple terms, the quest for you is to decide if emotional agility has been impacted by using too much ChatGPT.
The Reflection Point
In my humble research into the relationship between emotional intelligence and mental well-being, I've found that social media and TV can do a lot of damage to our brains, even watching safe content.
Humans have lost the art of learning to meditate on their thoughts.
A true mark of good emotional intelligence in an individual is knowing when to switch off from social media and spend time with their real thoughts.
For most humans, this is a somewhat big challenge - leaving our phones somewhere we can't touch and then trying to relax.
The quest then moves on to understand how we can navigate both ChatGPT and generative AI in a safe haven.
